Girls Matter is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides an annual Conference for girls, their parents and girl-serving professionals. The organization’s goals focus on building self-esteem, setting goals and developing leadership skills to inspire more emotionally and physically healthy and confident young women. We serve the metropolitan Detroit area and support other organizations that share our goals. Girls Matter is a project of Girls Empowered.

Andrea is a Continuous Improvement Sr. Analyst serving on the Girls Matter Conference Planning Committee as the DTE Energy Liaison. She has been an active volunteer with Girls Matter conferences since February, 2005 and by 2007 began serving on the planning committee, coordinating volunteers within her company. As a key contact for Detroit Public Schools' Alternative Education sign-up effort in 2008 her commitment to brochure distribution, email and radio communications ensured girls in the Detroit area would continue to benefit from the resources provided by the Girls Matter conferences. Andrea also serves as a committee member of a local Girls Scouts of Southeastern Michigan Troop.

Quote:
" I love to see the girls who come in and act so cool and nonchalant about being at the conference. But then there is that glimmer in the eye as she listens which means she just heard a statement that energized her thinking about something, or at the very least, she heard a message that will stay with her the rest of her life. We all have those moments we remember from our early years, and I believe those moments are happening at conferences like Girls Matter."
